Dr. -Ing. Joachim Koschikowski heads the R&D group “Water Treatment and Separation” at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE. He started his career at ISE in 1996 in material research, solar thermal collector design and the development of test facilities for the characterization of solar thermal collectors and system components. Currently his research focus is on energy efficient desalination technologies and technologies for industrial wastewater treatment and recovery of valuable substances in the context of circular economy. He is cofounder of SolarSpring, a company working on decentralized water supply systems and Membrane Distillation technologies for industrial applications. He is also involved in several national and international research projects and is coordinator of EU FP7 and H2020 projects.
